Change Management and Patience

It is one of the most beaten topics. Numerous articles tend to guide us how, when and what to change. Of these how is probably considered most difficult to explain and understand.

To me change management is very different process. As leader or change enabler, credibility is most potent weapon you need. Intensity of purpose should drive you from within hard enough that risks associated with the change start appearing manageable. Anxiety of unknown related to "change" often tends to over project the risks associated. The courage comes out of enthusiasm and intense desire to achieve change.

Achieving change needs careful examination of person or system in which change has been injected. The process is similar to a mosquito injecting malaria parasite. it takes 3 weeks for first symptom to appear. manifestation then is much faster resulting in severe cold, fever, shivering etc. Same is phenomena of change enablement. After change attempt, patience is needed to wait and let result surface. Closely monitor for desired results(symptoms). Hastening process, due to frustration of no symptom, often works against the change. Several frequent doses may actually work as antidote.

The speed of execution of change depends on size of change. A major change unless essential could be administered in small doses to prepare the subject for embracing the change. Once adequately prepared a single large dose often is advisable than continued slow change. For the subject may get bored of never ending process...

To be continued...

  2. Must say wow!, Just one question , why would you consider credibility is the most potent weapon, in my view people have a right to choose whether they want to support the change or not.And when we involve credibility ,it often leads to biased decision not based on outcome of change but based on the past of the person who is proposing the change.
I suggest , let the purpose be reason.United by a purpose you achieve least resistance.
